mission

To create the right environment where children build strong skills, gain confidence, and develop a lasting love of learning through supportive, individualized instruction that helps every child feel capable and successful.

why "the right environment"?

The name The Right Environment is very personal to me. It comes from watching a child in my life struggle in a setting that simply was not the right fit. The year before, his parents fought tooth and nail to increase his hours and add accommodations to his IEP, believing he needed more support to succeed. Then something unexpected happened. In a different setting, with instruction that truly matched how he learned, most of those supports were no longer necessary.

His parents said something that has stayed with me: they had worked so hard to add all of those services, only to realize later that he didn’t need all of it. He just needed the right environment.

That experience solidified what I have always believed. When children are given the right support, structure, and encouragement, their confidence grows. Skills strengthen. Frustration fades. My goal is to create that kind of space for every child I work with.

Programs and services

Elementary Small Group Instruction

Elementary groups are designed to provide individualized instruction within a supportive small-group setting. Students are placed in groups of up to six based on grade level and learning needs. Groups meet twice per week for two-hour classes, allowing time for focused, in-depth instruction.

Reading & Writing
Reading instruction is grounded in structured, research-based practices and taught through rich literature. Carefully selected picture books and novel studies help students build comprehension, vocabulary, critical thinking, and a meaningful connection to texts.

Math
Math instruction focuses on strengthening foundational number sense, problem solving, and mathematical reasoning through a multi-sensory approach.

Small Group Environment
The small group size allows each child to receive individualized support while also benefiting from discussion, collaboration, and shared learning with peers.

Middle School Novel Studies

Middle school novel studies are designed to help students think deeply about literature while developing strong reading, writing, and discussion skills. Students meet once per week for a two-hour session and explore rich, high-quality novels through guided discussion, written response, and close analysis of the text.

Annual Homeschool Evaluations

I offer homeschool evaluation services to help families meet Florida’s annual home education requirements. Evaluations include a review of the student’s portfolio, work samples, and overall academic progress, along with an informal conversation with the student when appropriate. The goal is to document growth, ensure educational progress, and provide families with encouragement and professional insight. As a certified teacher with extensive classroom experience, I strive to make the evaluation process supportive, thorough, and stress-free for both students and parents.
